MANCHESTER VICTORIA AND ITS SIGNALLING

This fabulous book by Tom Wray and Chris Littleworth is the definitive history of Manchester Victoria and its signalling. It updates Tom Wray's 2002 history of the station with many more illustrations and bring the story up to the end of 2022. Chris Littleworth then describes the signalling at Victoria from the earliest days of men with flags up to the present day and even includes a description of the control system for tram operation through the station. This 256 page hardback book contains more than 450 illustrations reproduced to the Society's usual high standard, each with a detailed caption providing context and historical detail.

This is a fascinating look at the L&Y's principal station and is very highly recommended.

An early recipient of the book wrote:

"I am writing to congratulate you in producing such a magnificent book. It is really outstanding and I am proud to be the recipient of such a volume. I've known Victoria since 1948 when I was a lad in short pants and have seen it through all its vicissitudes. SH"
