CENTRAL DIVISION MISCELLANY - BR DAYS

This is a new volume in Noel Coates' LYR Miscellany series. It records the history of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's lines and property in the British Railways period from 1947 to 1966, an era which saw a gradual reduction in the numbers of L&Y designed locos and stock, but those that remained carried an amazing variety of liveries and insignia. This 192 page hardback book contains 550 photographs reproduced to the Society's usual high standard, each with a detailed caption providing context and historical detail.

This is a fascinating look at the L&Y's locos and infrastructure before the closures and contractions began in earnest. Highly recommended.

Two early recipient of the book wrote:

"A short message to congratulate you on yet another outstanding contribution to railway literature. Even just glancing through my copy brought inestimable joy. I look forward to settling down in comfort for a long and more detailed exploration of its contents. AH"

"Many thanks and huge congratulations for yet another LYRS tour-de-force. I have just finished a slow, careful, methodical and deeply enjoyable examination of the book. It's simply a delight from beginning to end, brilliantly put together and beautifully produced, it simply oozes quality. MB"
