JIM RICHARD'S PRIVATE OWNER WAGON SKETCHES PORTFOLIO

Jim Richards was a trained railway engineer as well as an enthusiast. In the 1920s and early 1930s he travelled around the country sketching the Private Owner wagons that he saw. He recorded not only their dimensions but also livery details providing a valuable historic record. Jim used the sketches to build 7mm scale models which are now in the National Railway Museum at York where they have been photographed. The book contains some 350 wagon sketches, seventy four of which have a photograph of the 7mm model. This is an invaluable work of reference for anyone interested in the history of Private Owner wagons or modelling wagons of that period.
